Dalateatern is looking for

A substitute theater tailor. The position is a full-time parental leave cover starting April 1 or by agreement.

About the position:

As a theater tailor, you will work closely with the theater's costume master and various costume designers, tasked with bringing ideas to life. The position also includes costume maintenance and washing during production periods. You will also assist the costume master with the theater's costume inventory. You will be part of our technical department where we collectively carry out and realize many productions.

We are looking for someone who has

– Relevant education or professional experience in men's and/or women's tailoring.

– Tailoring education or good experience in pattern making.

– Experience in translating a costume sketch into a finished stage costume by working with pattern construction, cutting, fitting, and sewing.

– Good material knowledge.

– Knowledge in dyeing and aging.

– Good tool knowledge.

– Experience in theater production.

– Ability to manage ongoing maintenance of costumes and inventory.

You are solution-oriented and used to working independently. As a person, you are structured and have an easy time seeing the bigger picture and considering the larger perspective (the production). You are resourceful and find unconventional solutions when needed. You are calm and controlled in pressured situations. You take responsibility for your task and easily follow instructions/lead from the theater's costume master. And you enjoy the challenge of working in processes.
